| Meditating on a color field, which correlates to the chakra color,
can help balance and clear the chakras. This is why chakra meditation is such an
important part of daily meditation practice.
We are made up of energy, as is the whole universe, so imbalances in our own energy
systems have a strong affect on our world. Likewise, imagine millions of people meditating
and healing their energy fields daily. The positive effect this will have on our world,
on our universe, is awe-inspiring.
I was never a particularly grounded person, and I didn’t mind. I thought, “Why worry about
the mundane, when there are so many higher thoughts to ponder?” I related the word grounded
to practical and boring. One day when I was meditating, a huge, glorious tree came into my mind.
It was then that I came to the realization that the only way to really reach heavenly heights
was to be deeply grounded – what I began to think of as rooted. The stronger and deeper my roots,
the healthier and more able I am to grow tall and strong and to see and know everything.
My Chakra Meditation.
I start with my Root Chakra. I envision a brilliant crystal red light energy swirling at the base
of my spine, going down my legs and shooting out my toes, rooting me to Earth. I visualize each toe
becoming a strong, healthy, thick root and going deep into Earth. I know that the stronger and deeper
my roots, the higher I will grow up into the Heavens. I then focus my attention back up to the base of
my spine. I visualize the swirling red moving up to my Sacral Chakra and turning into a fiery orange.
Here, I think about my emotions as I learn to understand my emotional reactions and stabilize them.
I also think of the special and strong connection that two people can have because of the healthy
sexual energy produced in the Sacral Chakra. As the color becomes more intense, I watch it move up
into my Solar Plexus Chakra and turn into a beautiful, shimmering yellow. I think of myself as an
important and vital microcosm in the macrocosm of the Universe, and I know the choices I make
affect everything. The yellow continues up my spine into my Heart Chakra, where it becomes a magnificent
green. As the green is spinning around in the center of my chest I see pink swirled into it. This is a
great piece of imagery I picked up from John Edward’s “Developing Your Own Psychic Powers” series,
which resonated within me. I imagine the green with sparks of pink as being so strong that it bursts
forth from me as I share my love with the world. The green continues up and develops into a lovely sky
blue as I come to my Throat Chakra. Here my thoughts turn to my creative projects and how I chose to
express myself to the world. I also imagine myself speaking gently yet without fear at the appropriate
times. The sky blue travels up to my Third Eye Chakra where it easily blends into a deep indigo blue.
This is where I know that I can have all of the amazing spiritual experiences I’ve read about in books.
I know I will always be in the right place, at the right time, making the right decisions. I see my
Spirit Guides talking to me and surrounding me. I have the answers. Out of the top of the spinning
wheel of deep indigo shoots an amazing violet, that extends all the way up into the heavens. I am
connected with all that is, and I Am One with the Universe.
Then I just step back in my mind's eye and see an image of myself as if looking into a big mirror.
I see all the brilliant colors moving up and down my spine, effortlessly blending into one
another and taking me from one end of the color spectrum, deep into the earth, to the other, high
up into the heavens. I return to the tree visualization and see my head and arms as branches,
strong and healthy and going out into the Universe. I know that even when strong, tornado winds
come my way, I will not break because I am so deeply rooted and healthy, and I sway and dance
fluidly through the winds of change.
When I need help visualizing the richness of any of my Chakra colors, I open my eyes and gaze
at the crystal color on my jewelry, which correlates to the Chakra I am meditating on and when the
color is firmly in my mind’s eye, I continue with my meditation.
