About Swarovski Crystals
Daniel Swarovski invented a machine for cutting crystal. He patented
this machine in 1892, making it possible, for the first time, to cut crystal
to perfection. The Swarovski name is synonymous with words like absolute
perfection and precision, superior quality, brilliance, clarity and of course,
my favorite, SPARKLE!
Swarovski crystals contain 32% lead monoxide. Daniel discovered that the
presence of lead in crystal softens the glass, which not only makes it easier
to cut, but also increases the weight of the glass causing the glass to diffract
light.
Swarovski's are world renowned as the finest quality full lead cut glass crystals
in the world. They are also known as Austrian crystals.
